Scotch and Bourbon Whiskey – A Primer

Posted by Mark Leonard / Chief Cook and Bottle Washer | Posted in Wine/Spirits

Dr. William LumsdenWhereFoodiesGo recently had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Bill Lumsden, head of distilling for Glenmorangie scotch.  What a great call!  The questions covered a huge range of topics, including the difference between scotch and bourbon, and that both are subsets of whiskey, that it’s OK to drink scotch on the rocks (just not crushed ice, please), that the flavor variation in various scotches has almost nothing to do with where the distillery is located, that older scotch isn’t necessarily better, and much, much more. Plus Bill has a great sense of humor.  Highly recommended – be sure to listen to this call.
