Situated almost exactly equidistant from California’s 2 meccas of fine dining, Carmel is itself a hub of exquisite cuisine. Which makes sense when you consider its attributes; it is located within close proximity to the central valley, one of the worlds most fertile farming regions, in a county (Monterey) that boasts 9 appellations of winegrapes that produce uniquely fabulous world-class wines. Add to these facts the unmistakable similarity between the Carmel coast and the Cote d’Azur and you have a perfect storm, foodie style. Not to mention an exceptionally perfect place to host a farm-to-table food and wine venue. Beginning Saturday is the first ever Harvest Carmel event featuring 2-days of over-the-top cooking demos by none other than Tyler Florence plus 50 other rock star chefs, a bounty of locally grown organic produce, 100 different wineries, music, sunshine and the central coast. Can it get any better than that?!
In fact, it can! I’ll be there representing ‘team WhereFoodiesGo.com’ (you’ll recognize me as the one with the permanent grin) hob-nobbing with the best of them in my quest to bring our members world class food and wine experts. Tough job, right?!
Well, I could use some help from all you foodies out there. Check out the lineup of chefs and winemakers that will be at the event and let me know: if you would like a chance to meet any one of them, who would it be?
