Today I cycled on the Bay Trail from Emeryville to Richmond. My ride usually dead-ends at a locked shut chain-link fence at the beautiful Craneway Pavilion at Ford Point but today I was met by an amazing surprise – an open fence leading the way to an awesome new restaurant called BoilerHouse Restaurant.

The Craneway Pavilion
Cool! Now I can enjoy a beer 10 miles into my ride and ride with a buzz home
The atmosphere is like a brewery set inside a former Ford automobile factory power plant – multi-level and very open. It boasts one of the best Bay Area’s views of the San Francisco skyline and today the bay was super calm so it was amazing to be there!

Boilerhouse Restaurant
The menu had a lot of health-conscious items which I appreciate. I had the Bay Trail Portabello Mushroom Sandwich served on a whole wheat roll with carmalized onions, red peppers, spring greens, and a balsamic vinaigrette. $11.95. As far as I know there weren’t beers on tap but I did see a lot of local micro brews like Anchor Steam and Moylan’s Kilt Lifter which are always nice. I’m definitely going to make Boilerhouse my bay trail pitstop from now on.

For anyone who’s lucky enough to come by sailboat, it’s a perfect excuse to sail to Richmond and dock at the Boilerhouse wharf for a bite to eat… and if you’re driving it’s right off of harbor exit off of 580 and biking and jogging to the restaurant is no prob since it’s right on the bay trail.
It’s a bit tough to find (hence why I want to offer my support since they just opened July 1st) but watch for all the signs pointing the way… Get your buzz on!
