Fancy Food Show 2010

I attended my first Fancy Food Show at San Francisco’s Moscone Center this past week. What a gigantic accolade to the imagination, creativity, and diversity of foodies everywhere!  The show filled two enormous halls, and was quite full when I was there on the last day.  Here are some of my observations.

First, there was an amazing array of producers selling tea.  I could have spent an entire day on this subject. Should WhereFoodiesGo talk to an expert in tea?

Second, as you would suspect, there was a tremendous amount of candy and confections.  I met Art Pollard there at his Amano Chocolate booth, and he is looking forward to his talk with WhereFoodiesGo on February 2.

Third, lots of producers emphasizing their focus on sustainability and organic, including some experts I’d like to have on WhereFoodiesGo.

Fourth, an amazing array of producers from around the world: Italy, of course, and France, but also Germany, Belgium, the UK, many Asian and African countries, and Peru, Chili, and Argentina, just to name a few.

A couple of the producers I’d like to introduce to WhereFoodiesGo include a producer of 12 heritage varieties of popcorn, the man who invented “Black Garlic”, a process that brings out the hidden sweetness in garlic and which has captured the interest of top chefs, and an importer of heirloom rice from around the world. Who would you like to hear from?
