FAQ
There are many advantages to becoming a WhereFoodiesGo member:
- Special gifts. Many of our expert guests give away free gifts and surprises to our members, and you must be a member to have the opportunity to receive these special gifts. In the past, these gifts have included free dinners from our top chefs, training DVDs, cookbooks, and more.
- Better communications. When you become a member, you confirm your email address, and therefore get up to date information from us. If you're not a member, and you give us an incorrect email address, we have no way of notifying you of site updates, special events and event reminders.
- Simpler event registration. When you sign up as a member, and then submit a question to one of our guests, you don't have to re-enter your name and email address.
- Website personalization. When you sign up as a member, we can track which events you have signed up for, and give you a visual indication, by changing the "Register for this event" button to "Go to the details page".
- Download Audio Replays / subscribe via iTunes. Only those people signed up as members are allowed to download the audio replays to their MP3 devices or personal computers either via direct download or via subscription.
- "My Events" personalization. When you sign up as a member, we also create a personalized list of the events you have signed up for in the "My Events" button on the dashboard below the WhereFoodiesGo sports car.
If you've forgotten your password, you can request a new password via the "Retrieve/Reset Password" link on the Log In screen. We will ask for the username or email address you provided when you registered so we can send you a new password. After you successfully enter your username or email address, you will receive 2 emails:
- An email with a link for you to confirm that it was YOU who requested the password reset (otherwise, we'd reset your password if someone else accidentally uses your username or email address)
- Once you confirm that you requested the reset, we will send you an email with a new password.
You should copy/paste this password from your email to the login screen and once logged in, use the "Profile" link in the dashboard (right underneath the red car under the page header) to change it to an easier to remember password of your choice.
If you've forgotten your username, you can use the email address you registered with to log in.If you're not sure about which email address you used, you can try out different email addresses until we find the one that you used for registering on our site.
FYI - you can change your email address once you're logged in on the "Profile" screen; you cannot change your username.
The download of our guest interview replays, our interview transcripts, subscriptions to the replays via iTunes and other such features where you download our content to your local computer or other personal device are considered "premium features" and also require the acceptance of our Terms of Use.
This is necessary to make sure that you understand what you can and cannot do once you download our content to your personal device.
You will only be asked to accept these Terms of Use once and possibly again if there are changes made that would warrant an explicit agreement by you. Otherwise, once you accept the terms, your agreement is recorded in your profile and as long as you are logged in, you will not be asked again.
The Terms of Use for this site state how you may use the content that is posted to our site, as well as our rights with respect to content you may post on our blog or other interactive sections. For example, as an authorized member of WhereFoodiesGo, you may download the replay files of the interviews with our guests for your personal use; you may, however, not distribute them for commercial purposes such as marketing your own efforts or reselling them for profit without our express permission.
When you're logged in, the raspberry colored dashboard on the right side of the page (right under the red car) will say "Welcome, [your name]". Right underneath that, you will also see a link to "Log Out" and to view/update your personal "Profile".
When you're NOT logged in, the dashboard will just say "Welcome" and you will see a "Member Login" prompt right underneath that.
Trouble opening iTunes: You must have iTunes installed on your computer in order to receive the replays as podcasts within iTunes. You can download and install iTunes from Apple at this link.
iTunes asks for username/password: Because we require you to be an active member on our site in order to continue to receive our most recent event replays, we will ask you for your WhereFoodiesGo username and password to download new event replays. Please enter the same username or email and password that you use on our site directly. If you're still logged into the site on your browser and we can find your login cookie via iTunes, we may be able to use that instead of prompting you for your username/password.
If you cannot remember your password, please use the "retrieve/reset password" feature on the site login screen.
Asked to Log In or Join on Guest Information page: If you're being asked to Log In or Join when pressing the iTunes link on the Guest Information page, you are either not logged in or not yet a member on our site. Please join the site or log in and you will be able subscribe to our event replays via iTunes. Once you subscribe, you will be able to retrieve new event replays - once available - directly from within iTunes. You will only need to use the iTunes button on the guest information page for the initial subscription.
You must be a member or our site and logged in to visually see if you've already signed up for an event.
When you're logged in, the raspberry colored [Register Event] button for the next live event changes to a green [Call in Info] button after you sign up for the event.
If you know that you've already joined as a member and are still asked to provide your name and email address when registering for an event, you are probably not logged in at that time.
When you log in, you should click the "Remember me" box and make sure you have "Cookies" turned on in your browser - at least for this site . After that, whenever you come back to our site and as long as you don't clear your "cookies", you will automatically be logged in and will no longer have to enter your name and email address in the various place where they are required.
Caution: You should only click "Remember Me" on your personal or work computer (if allowed) and not on a publicly accessible computer.
You can access the webcast via the Event Information page on the day of the event starting a few minutes prior to the event. The event information page is available to you (when logged in) via the green [Event Info] button that replaces the [Event Signup] button once you register for an event. Once you register, you will also receive an email reminder that will contain a link to that page.
You will see a grey box that contains a media player that you can use to listen to the event via the web. You will need the latest Adobe Flash Player version installed. (You can get it here.) Please note, that the player is not available prior to the call being started by your host. Until that time, you will see a message that the player is stopped even after you press the "play" button. Once the call has started, you can press the play button and you will be connected to receive the audio stream for the event.
You should not listen via the web player AND by phone at the same time because the web player streams with an 18 second delay.
When you use the web player to listen to the call, you cannot "raise your hand" and ask questions directly. You can, however, submit questions via the question box on the Event Information page.
